Two New Lifts, Terrain Modifications, and More Snowmaking for 20/21!
The new High Peaks Quad will deliver skiers and riders to Gore’s true summit, opening up fresh access to 96’ vertical and more of your favorite terrain including the entire Straight Brook Valley. To accommodate for a lift line extension of nearly 800’ on this new fixed-grip quad, the Cloud trail has been regraded and widened. This terrain modification will allow space for guests to spread out and enjoy Gore’s classic Adirondack views.
The Sunway Chair is also being upgraded to a new quad, creating an even better experience for everyone. This new fixed-grip chairlift will feature a modern and comfortable conveyor-style loading area that is ideal for those just getting started and for groups with small children. Look for a better unloading zone a little further up the mountain too.
Formerly called the Cutoff trail and rated more difficult, this Northwoods Area cruiser has been lengthened and transformed into new easier-rated terrain. “Pete’s Paradise” offers an additional beginner option for family-friendly adventures and another place in Gore’s improved learning area for novices to practice. Be on the lookout for a chance encounter with Pete, the sociable grouse that lives in the nearby woods and frequently checked in on this progress of this project!
The mountain’s snowmaking reservoir has been expanded by 60% of its former size, resulting in 15M gallons of additional water to turn into snow. This significant increase in snowmaking capacity will allow Gore to pump more water through its recently modernized infrastructure of automated technologies, energy-saving compressors, and high-efficiency guns to provide quality coverage on more trails earlier in the season.
