Overview

Teens will learn about the knowledge and skills required to become ski and snowboard instructors, while improving their personal skiing/riding skills. They’ll discover technical components of skiing/riding, what to teach, how to teach children, and how to promote safety while having fun in lessons and programs.

Participants will also learn the daily responsibilities of Ski Patrol, including the opening of trails and sweeping at day’s end, recognizing potential safety hazards, and the usage of appropriate markings to warn skiers/riders. They may observe other Patrollers running a rescue sled and taking care of injured guests.

Skiers and riders must be of intermediate to advanced abilities (see our chart to determine your teen’s ability level); previous safety training (First Aid, CPR) is not required. All participants must be 13-15 years old as of December 1, 2021.
