To enjoy your snow day fully in the colder temperatures, here are Gore’s cold weather safety tips:
1. Dress warmly with layers. Don’t expose any skin to the cold. Choose wind/waterproof shells and insulated mid-layers. Socks and base layers should be synthetic or wool, not cotton. Mittens tend to be warmer than gloves. 40% of body heat is lost through your head; cover your face with ski masks, and use your coat’s hood or a balaclava. You can visit our Retail Shop if you need warmer apparel.

2. Take frequent breaks to warm up in our lodges. Stay hydrated and relax with hot cocoa or hearty hot comfort food from the Tannery Restaurant, Saddle Lodge, or Food Court.
3. Stock up on hand and toe warmers. Our Retail Shop has plenty!
4. Take the Northwoods Gondola for an enclosed ride up.
