Marketing Manager

Gore Mountain Ski Area

Gore Mountain, an ORDA-managed facility, is seeking a highly motivated problem solver who thrives working in a team environment to be its Venue Marketing Manager. The successful candidate will work at Gore and will be responsible for Gore’s on-mountain marketing plan, guest experience, and oversight of marketing staff. General responsibilities include management of Gore’s frequent skier and community programs; snow reporting; guest services; special events/promotions; Gore’s social media channels; overall venue look and feel; as well as oversight of group sales and season pass sales. This person will interface with all departments at Gore to develop the overall marketing and guest experience plan. Additionally, Gore’s Marketing Manager will be responsible for coordinating with ORDA’s Marketing Department and, as such, will work collaboratively to develop pricing plans, cross-venue marketing initiatives, and creating a marketing strategy that is consistent with organizational objectives. Weekend and holiday work will be required.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field along with two years’ experience in a marketing-related field. Progressively relevant experience may replace education on a year for year basis. The successful candidate must also have strong computer skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of Gore Mountain and the Lake George and Adirondack regions are plusses.

Compensation: Management / Confidential position. Salary dependent on qualifications and experience. Outstanding benefit package including paid leave, health, dental, vision, and participation in the New York State Retirement System. Optional participation in NYS Deferred Compensation.

Motor Equipment Mechanic

Gore Mountain Ski Area, an ORDA managed facility located north of Lake George, N.Y., is seeking a Motor Equipment Mechanic. The successful candidate will report to the Fleet Maintenance Department Supervisor and will be primarily responsible for all aspects of service, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on Gore Mountain’s vehicle fleet. Work will be performed on a wide array of equipment including hydrostatic snow grooming vehicles, various construction vehicles and equipment, light and heavy trucks, buses, snowmobiles, and ATVs. Diesel and gasoline engine experience is required for work on engines utilized in the fleet and on stationary equipment including air compressors and ski lifts. Excellent organizational skills and oral and written communication skills are required for reading machinery documentation, including prints and schematics, acquiring parts and communicating with vendors on technical information for troubleshooting and repair.

Qualifications: Minimum of four years of practical experience and/or documented completion of technical courses for the equipment found in Gore Mountain’s fleet. Must have a valid driver’s license.

Pay Rate: Dependent upon skills, qualifications, and experience; participation in the New York State and Local Retirement Systems; as well as an excellent benefit package including health, dental, and vision insurances. Optional participation in NYS Deferred Compensation.

Operational Positions

Ticket Sellers

Sell lift tickets, season passes, frequent skier products, and lessons, answer phones. Must have excellent customer service skills.  Requires knowledge of computers and Gore Mountain.

Lift Operators & Lift Attendants

Provide guests with safe, efficient, and courteous loading and unloading of lifts.  Attendants are responsible for maintaining ramps as well as scanning season passes and lift tickets.

Terrain Park Attendants

Maintain terrain park features as well as working with mountain operations.

Ski & Snowboard Instructors

Teach both children and adults to ski and snowboard.

Adaptive Ski & Snowboard Instructors

Teach both children and adults with disabilities to ski and snowboard.

Mountain Hosts

Offer guests information and assistance, such as the location of ticket sales desks and rental shop, trail locations, lesson times, etc., to help them have a great experience on the mountain.

Groomers

Groom trails and operate snowcats, primarily at night.  Heavy equipment experience preferred, knowledge of skiing/riding and ski slopes needed.

Snowmakers

Check snowmaking equipment (valves, water lines, etc.) and reposition snow guns on the mountain.  Knowledge of ski trails needed.

Pump House Operator

Monitor water pumps, air compressors, and snow production equipment.  We provide the computer tracking system and you provide excellent communication to other snowmaking staff by radio and phone.  Other administrative tasks include data entry and checklists.  No previous snowmaking production experience necessary.  This position is part of the snowmaking team.

Parking Lot Attendants

Looking for people that enjoy being outside and possess a helpful personality!  This position involves the safe and smooth flow of traffic up and down the road, directing traffic, and safely positioning vehicles to park.

Shuttle Bus Operators

Transport guests from parking lots to Lodges or North Creek Ski Bowl.  Must have a valid driver license with a minimum of CDL Class B.

Building Maintenance Workers

Perform various light maintenance, labor, and construction tasks including shoveling snow and clearing walkways around base lodges.  General maintenance background a plus.

Janitors

Clean lodges and facilities, remove trash and recycling, and restock materials as needed.
