Lift Operations Supervisor
General:
The Lift Operations Supervisor will provide safe uphill transportation for guests and co-workers by supervising the daily operations of ski lifts and the Team Members operating them. Communicate regularly with other departments including Lift Maintenance, Snowsports, Guest Services Rentals, Ski Patrol, Human Resources, Marketing, and Operations Manager. The Lift Operations Supervisor is part of the Lift Operations team at Gore Mountain and the North Creek Ski Bowl and reports directly to the Operations Manager.
Weekend and holiday work are required as well as overtime during the operating season.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The principal responsibility of the Lift Operations Supervisor is to oversee the operations of the Lifts.
- Daily schedules Lift Attendants and Operators based on the lift schedule and projected guest numbers.
- Daily, monitor Lift Attendants and Operators to ensure quality customer service and safe workplace practices.
- Work closely with the Lift Maintenance team to ensure issues are resolved when they arise and assist with preventative maintenance tasks as required by Lift Maintenance.
- Daily oversee the completion of daily lift logs, incident reports, and other reports.
- Seasonally conduct on-the-job training for all Lift Attendants and operators.
- Daily monitors lifts and personnel for compliance- this includes but is not limited to all signage and licensing, normal and evacuation procedures, and opening, operating, and closing procedures.
- When in operation oversee daily maintenance of ramps and mazes
- Daily general housekeeping of the outside lift areas, lift shakes, and other lift operations areas.
- Maintain knowledge of daily ticket types and season passes.
- Maintain and update lift manuals as needed.
- Maintain compliance with mountain safety practices.
- Coordinate hiring, training, and promotion of the Lift Operations Team as needed.
- Complete employee incident reports and RCA on a timely basis.
- Create JHA’s for all jobs
- Write requisitions for purchases needed by Lift Operations following the NYS purchasing policy
- Understand and apply the Skier Responsibility Code
- Assists Lift Maintenance with lift

Wage/Salary:
This position is identified as a Grade 19 on the ORDA/CSEA schedule with a rate of $31.83 per hour. Wastewater Treatment Plant Trainee
General:
The Wastewater Treatment Plant Trainee is part of the Building Maintenance team at Gore Mountain and reports directly to the Chief Wastewater Operator and Building Maintenance Supervisor. This individual must be working on obtaining a 1A Water Treatment Certificate and have knowledge of laboratory equipment, and its functions. The Wastewater Treatment Plant Trainee must be detail-oriented; have basic knowledge of chemicals and lab equipment; and have basic math and science skills.
Miscellaneous support duties may be requested by the Building Maintenance Supervisor and/or Chief Wastewater Operator that support the overall responsibilities of the wastewater treatment plant as well as that of building and mountain operations.
This position works primarily on-site at Gore Mountain although occasional travel may be required. Weekend and holiday work are required as is work outside the normal workday that is necessary to fulfill duties and responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Principle Duties
- Learn to operate and control electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate the flow of water into treatment facilities.
- Learn to collect and test water samples to determine concentration levels and impurities.
- Learn to perform all scheduled maintenance, service, and new installations of water treatment equipment.
- Learn to be responsible for accurate record keeping, such as residual content of chemicals, water turbidity, and water pressure.
- Participates in routine maintenance work and repair functions for pumps, tanks, aerators, filters, motors, pulleys, drive belts, solids and chemical handling facilities, and all related wastewater facilities and equipment. Performs maintenance, repair and cleanup of buildings and grounds as needed.
- Provide regular communication with fellow operators and management of any non-routine operating parameters that occur.
- Report equipment issues and support plant operations
- Maintain logs, records, and reports relative to the work under the supervision of the Chief Water Operator.
- Snow removal as needed
- Always work safely following all training and ORDA safety protocols and procedures.
Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Must acquire a 1A WWTP Operator Certificate valid in NY State within 18 months.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, data entry)
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Basic math and science skills
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Valid Driver’s License
- Have adequate respiratory function to utilize a self-contained breathing apparatus.
Wage/Salary:
This position is identified as a Grade 13 on the ORDA/CSEA schedule with a rate of $20.39 per hour. Lift Mechanic 2
Job Summary:
The Lift Mechanic2 is part of the Lift Maintenance team at Gore Mountain and reports directly to the Lift Maintenance Supervisor. This individual must have the ability to lift 50 lbs, the ability to climb towers at significant heights, work efficiently at significant heights, possess a valid driver’s license, have Lift Maintenance experience, be able to work outside in inclement weather, have working understanding of ANSI B77, and possess NDT Level 2 Certification.
Miscellaneous support duties may be requested by the Lift Maintenance Supervisor that support the overall responsibilities of the Lift Maintenance and Lift Operations Department.
This position works primarily on-site at Gore Mountain although occasional travel may be required. Weekend and holiday work are required as is work outside the normal workday including overnights and call-ins necessary to fulfill duties and responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities include:
Principle Duties
- Act as lead Lift Mechanic with preventative maintenance and special projects.
- Prepare chairlifts daily for operational use.
- Complete required departmental maintenance log sheets and record keeping.
- Maintains tools, vehicles, and equipment in clean and good working condition.
- Shovel lifts & Walkways as well as deice towers when needed.
- Operate various over-the-snow and wheeled vehicles safely.
- Attend all on and off-site lift maintenance training as assigned by the Lift Maintenance Supervisor.
- Check fluid levels, belts, tires, and terminals.
- Operate all Ski Lifts.
- Rebuild sheaves and replace them as needed.
- Complete required documentation for maintenance and inspections.
- Perform fixed grip maintenance.
- Perform fixed grip carrier inspections.
- Installation of sheave wheels.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
- Measure, adjust, and align the detachable mechanism.
- Possess working knowledge of terminals, stations, and tension systems
- Check and adjust the alignment in motor gearboxes
- Troubleshoot, repair, and oversee the replacement of all brake systems and components

Electrician
Job Summary:
The Electrician is part of the Electrical team at Gore Mountain and reports directly to the Electrical Supervisor. This individual must have the ability to lift 50 lbs., ability to climb towers at significant heights, work efficiently at significant heights, possess a valid driver’s license, have mechanical abilities, the ability to read and use electrical schematics for troubleshooting electrical systems and be able to work outside in inclement weather. Knowledge of the Ski Industry is preferred but not required.
Primary Responsibilities include (this list is not extensive):
- Safe installation of various electrical components ranging from 24v up to 3 phase 480v components.
- Possess working knowledge of all evacuation and auxiliary drive systems.
- Use a multimeter in various troubleshooting situations with a variety of different voltages.
- Read and use electrical schematics for troubleshooting electrical systems.
- Read and interpret machinery documentation, including prints.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to work in an outdoor environment
- Valid Driver’s License
- Lift 50lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods
- Minimum of 4 years prior experience
- Climb Towers at significant heights
Wage/Salary:
Should be a self-motivator who is able to work independently on assigned tasks as well as work cooperatively as a member of the electrical team.
Wage – The pay rate is $26.89/hr. at a Grade 17 under the current CSEA Contract on the Hourly Compensation Schedule. Ticket Sellers
Sell lift tickets, season passes, frequent skier products and lessons, answer phones, and must have excellent customer service skills. Requires knowledge of computers and Gore Mountain. Entry Rates range from $16.64 to $17.95 per hour.
Retail Clerk
Greet customers as they enter the store. Process, check, stock, and inventory shipments and operate a point of sale. Entry Rates range from $16.64 to $17.95 per hour.
Lift Operators & Lift Attendants
Provide guests with safe, efficient, and courteous loading and unloading of lifts. Attendants are responsible for maintaining ramps as well as scanning season passes and lift tickets. Entry rates range from $16.64 to $20.83 per hour.
Terrain Park Attendants
Maintain terrain park features as well as working with mountain operations. Entry rates range from $16.64 to $20.80 per hour.
Ski & Snowboard Instructors
Teach both children and adults to ski and snowboard. The entry rates range from $15.45 to $20.80 per hour.
Snowmakers
Check snowmaking equipment (valves, water lines, etc.) and reposition snow guns on the mountain. Knowledge of ski trails is needed. The entry rate range is $19.33 to $20.83 per hour.
Pump House Operators
Maintain operating water and air pressure throughout the system. Communicate with the Shift Supervisor to maximize snowmaking efficiency for the trails in production. The entry range from $20.83 to $22.43 per hour.
Parking Lot Attendants
Looking for people who enjoy being outside and possess a helpful personality! This position involves the safe and smooth flow of traffic up and down the road, directing traffic and safely position vehicles to park. Entry rates range from $15.45 to $17.95 per hour.
Shuttle Bus Operators
Transport our guests from parking lots to Lodges or North Creek Ski Bowl. Must have a valid driver’s license with a minimum of CDL Class B. The entry rate is $24.16 per hour.
Snow Groomers
Grooming a ski slope involves far more than driving a groomer up and down a snowy mountain. It is both a technical skill and an art form, requiring knowledge of the equipment and the type of snow currently on the mountain. The shift typically starts after the mountain closes working well into the evening. Entry rates range from $19.33 to $24.16 per hour.
Building Maintenance Workers & Janitors
Perform various light maintenance, labor, and construction tasks, including shoveling snow and clearing walkways around base lodges. Clean lodges and facilities, remove trash and recycling and restock materials as needed. A general maintenance background is a plus. Entry rates range from $17.95 to $19.33 per hour.
Rental Shop
Ski & Snowboard Rental Technicians- Provide guests with assistance on technical hard good questions. Perform ski repairs, ski tuning, and other maintenance as needed. Boot Fitters- Responsible for the proper fitting of ski and snowboard boots. Entry Rates range from $16.64 to $20.83 per hour.
Food and Beverage
Sodexo is Gore’s on-mountain concessionaire and manages the food & beverage operations for the mountain. Positions include cooks, servers, cashiers, dishwashers and more.
